Welcome to the 4th World Congress of Science and Medicine in Cricket!
The
4th World Congress of Science and Medicine in Cricket, 2011 is being organized by the
Prof D S Grewal Memorial Orthopaedics Society with logistic support from the
Department of Orthopaedics, PGIMER Chandigarh.
This international conference is held during the
Cricket World Cup every four years and has an august presence of various international as well as national delegates who discuss the Science and Medicine of cricket. The 4th World Congress of Science and Medicine in Cricket will be held at the
Hotel Mountview, CHANDIGARH.
Building on the successes and experience of the previous congresses held at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, England in 1999 and at the Spier Wine Estate, Capetown, South Africa in 2003 and Barbados in 2007, the meeting will be a major international event involving participants from the major cricket playing nations.
The Congress will be hosted immediately after the Semi-finals of the 2011 Cricket World Cup. The congress organizers hope that
Sport scientists, Sports medicine specialists, Orthopaedicians, Physiotherapists, Physiologists, Academics, Teachers, Students, Administrators and Coaches with an interest in cricket will take this opportunity to participate in this meeting.
Congress Aims:
1. To provide a state of the art review of the basic, applied and clinical sciences as they relate to cricket and the impact of cricket on society,
2. To provide a forum for integrating knowledge from the contributing sciences which address key areas in the prevention and management of injuries in cricket and the enhancement of performance.
3. To identify those areas where our understanding is incomplete and to encourage discussions of the challenges that face all involved in the advancement of the game of cricket.
4. To provide a forum for the dissemination of scientific information relating to cricket.
The Congress program will be of interest to a wide range of professionals in the field of sport and health. It will represent the full range of current issues in order to increase the awareness and understanding of the game, thus raising the standards of support provided to cricketers around the world.
